Corus to raise rail prices by €56 per tonne
01 Mar 2004
In line with the general steel market, Corus announces that it will raise its prices for steel rails by €56 per tonne across the whole product range, with effect from 1st April 2004.
The increase follows a worldwide strengthening of steel prices and major increases in the steel industry's raw materials and shipping costs.
Gerard Glas, Director Rail Products, said:
"In the past we have been able to absorb increases in input costs, however the recent unprecedented rise in raw material and shipping costs affecting the steel industry means that Corus' input prices have risen by nearly 20% and therefore these price increases are unavoidable.
We are meeting with our customers to explain this issue and the current situation.”
