Structures assessment

Client: Network Rail London North Eastern Zone

Services Provided
As part of Network Rail's Alliance Programme, this project involved the inspection and assessment of the load carrying capacity of bridges in the London North Eastern Zone.

Corus was initially responsible for 90 structures under this contract, which was completed at the end of 2000.

Special Features
To ensure each bridge can withstand the loads and speeds of current day vehicles, measurements are taken with manual and ultrasonic equipment using inspection techniques including roped access to establish any corrosion and defects in the structure. These results, along with other data, are analysed to produce the capacity of the bridge for different types of traffic travelling at varying speeds.
