Corus played a key role in Network Rail's ambitious £165 million project from carrying out the initial site surveys, feasibility and outline design stages through to the detailed design of the switch and crossing layouts.

This was a multi-disciplinary project which involved team members from Permanent Way, Civil Engineering, Signalling and Electrical and Mechanical.

Special Features

The project required many innovative solutions to accommodate non-standard arrangements for the concrete bearers, including the famous Whitehall diamond area and two new tracks that have been constructed for the Huddersfield & Transpennine route to alleviate the bottleneck at Holbeck Junction.
