Other applications
Other industrial uses range from extensive systems serving large industrial sites (e.g. steelworks, power stations, mineral mining and processing) to small specialised tracks.
Traffic often includes very large loads and unusually high axle loads and in other cases normal vehicles at high traffic intensity. These railways often incur abnormal track alignment and usage factors. Site layout constraints may result in very tight curves or steep gradients. The material transported may cause unusual track problems, such as very heavy loading or the risk of spillage of dangerous loads. Reliable product quality is again essential to cater for the varied and often less than optimal service conditions.
Other diverse applications include mines and quarries, cranes and multiple and dual track systems for conveyors or other industrial processes.
